Landscape of PMS:

 

There are approximately 450 PMS players in India with different strategies.

 

Advantages:

 

• Professionally managed stocks portfolio.
• Concentrated portfolio of 20-30 stocks.

 

Disadvantages of PMS: 

 

• Investors have to pay tax on gains at the individual share transaction level, which leads to overall higher tax liability. 
• PMS Fees are high. The annual management fees may vary between 2% to 3% p.a. Some PMS have profit sharing fee of 10%-20% as well. Investors also have to pay GST of 18% on these fees.

 

PMS Average Performance:

 

 

In May 2025, the average return generated by the PMS strategies was 6.27%. The 1 Year average return was 8.12% and 5 years average return was 28.4%
